Shakira has packed her bags for a new television appearance — this time on ‘The Wizards of Waverly Place’ !

According to the Disney Channel, Shakira and comedian Jeff Garlin will guest star on the show Friday, April 16.

In the episode, titled “Dude Looks Like Shakira,” Alex, Justin and Max are shocked to discover their Uncle Kelbo (Jeff Garlin) has transformed into international music sensation Shakira after he failed to follow the Main Eleven Wizards Rules.

Jennifer Lopez is stepping in actress Goldie Hawn’s shoes !

According to Hollywood sources, Lopez has signed on to star in a remake of ‘Overboard,” the 1987 film featuring Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn.

The original centered on the wife of a socialite who falls off her yacht and develops amnesia. Her carpenter then convinces her that they are married and she is the mother of his four misbehaving sons.

Will Smith is said to be producing the remake with James Lassiter.

If and when ABC airs a revamped version of ‘Star Search,’ Paula Abdul won’t be there.

A trusting source close to Abdul told US Magazine the star has declined the show.

Earlier this week, Abdul spoke on the rumored deal via Twitter, telling fans:

“Once again, until you hear it from me, you can’t believe what you read Lots of love!”

Latinaroom:

Indio: To me it was…I guess the best way I could put it: the feeling of success. You know this is my first year out, and this was a soft release of the record so the world really didn’t get to hear the record in its entirety. But the industry recognized music and nominated me…to me I felt blessed.

Latinaroom: Did you do anything exciting or crazy when you found out?

Indio: Naw, not really…I didn’t really do anything as far as going crazy I just enjoyed it with the people that helped me get there. I went out and had a good time with the people that helped me get to that level.

Latinaroom: Tell me about the increasing popularity of your debut album “Taino De Puerto Rico Para El Mundo?”

Indio: It’s actually…you know not to sound conceited but it’s blowing me mentally…people are definitely riding the wave with me now as opposed to when we first started doing it; when you’re trying to break a new artist it’s difficult because you have to get known. Now, things are a little bit different…I walk into places and people are definitely recognizing the face and I let them hear just a little bit of what I’m coming with, with the album on my Facebook and Myspace. So they actually get to hear the rhythm and the sound and the voice that I’m bringing. There’s a lot of excitement…there’s a lot of positive buzz out there about me dropping it like it’s hot when we come out with this record.

Latinaroom: What was that process like from when you first came out to now where you’re getting recognized more?

Indio: Well I guess you know, having the whole team, for instance Loren [Medina - publicist] and other people who have come on board to help us grow and become what it’s becoming now. Which I can safely say is what most blessed me, and it’s going to be a success.

Latinaroom: Were you happy with the success of the first single “Quiero Amar A Otra (Love Another)?”

Indio: Absolutely, and with the second one at that because for a new artist, a brand new artist, to have a CD that hasn’t even dropped yet, and for both of those songs to break top ten tropical charts is, I can safely say being a tropical artist and loving tropical music, it’s pretty much unheard of…it’s pretty hard to see that happen without the record fully being released and have 2 top ten songs on the top Latin 100 Billboard. To me it’s a blessing; it was amazing to have it happen.

Latinaroom: Will you be doing any cross-over albums in the future?

Indio: Absolutely, best believe it. What I want to do… I don’t want to confuse the fans that I have now and the fans that I’m going to definitely acquire in the future. So, I’m going to give a little of that Latin/Tropical flavor and let them soak that in…and once that happens then I’ll cross over and show them the Puerto Rican-English side of me and let them see you know what I can bring to the table as far as the English side of my singing is concerned. Now, I’m focused on giving them that hot Latin flavor and when it’s time the camp will know when it’s time to cross-over and give it to them in English.

Latinaroom: How did it feel to lend your support to “Hope for Haiti”?

Indio: The feeling was incredible you know. That was not something that was done for PR, that wasn’t something that was done [just] to do it…we lost a lot of brothers and sisters over there. To me it was a life changing experience to be honest with you because I was home watching everything that was happening…you know people trapped in buildings that are crumbled, babies that had died, you know it was just a travesty. So, to be home looking at it then get the invitation to go out and perform on the same stage as Joss Stone and other stellar artists, to me was a blessing to be able to lend my voice to that cause.

When things like that happen, you have to definitely stay present, because I’m a very God-fearing man, I believe that he’ll [God] hold you accountable for something like that. If he gave you a gift and somebody calls upon you for something like that, you have to stand up and say yes for sure.

Latinaroom: You were born in Paterson NJ; did you grow up there also?

Indio: Absolutely, Hard body, 100%… Paterson, New Jersey born and raised there.

Latinaroom: It’s kind of a known fact that Paterson is a rough area; did you have to deal with any of that stuff growing up?

Indio: (Laughing) oh sure sure gun shots, baseball bats, stabbing I mean I been through it all…been there done that. It’s just a byproduct of the environment you know, it’s a town that’s relatively small so there’s a lot of feeding, there’s a lot of wolves in one little area fighting to see who’s the alpha male. So, it wasn’t easy, but I’m glad I’m one of the ones that made it out. But as I made It out I still go back and talk to the people and let people know ‘you know what no matter what if you really want to and you really work at it, you can get out too.

Latinaroom: Are you married, single or dating?

Indio: No, no and no… (Laughing)

Latinaroom: What’s your ideal date for that special lady?

Indio: I’m a very simple person and I guess that they usually would have to be just as simple as me. And that doesn’t necessarily mean we can’t go to a five-star restaurant or stay in a five-star hotel or show you the night of your life. But I think all that comes in time, I think that when you meet a woman you want to know exactly who she is and what she’s into…it’s not just what am I bringing to the table what is she bringing to the table. So once she opens up and shows me whats she’s bringing to the table, the sky’s the limit as far as I’m concerned. I don’t believe in ideal dates I believe in once she shows me her true colors and I get to know her for who she is, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for her.

Latinaroom: Do you cook?

Indio: Absolutely, I’ve been cooking since I was 9-years-[old]. I’m 1 of 9, 7 sisters and an older brother, I can cook like a champ!

Latinaroom: What are your hobbies when you’re not doing music?

Indio: The gym is something that I love passionately, I mean if I don’t go to the gym for a day I feel like something’s wrong, like I missed something very important in my life. Other than that, I used to be a minor league baseball player so I like to play baseball, you know basketball…you know regular guy things, I mean lifting weights. I would definitely say being in the gym is more my way of getting away from music.

Latinaroom: Lastly, what else is in store for Indio? Besides music what other thing do you want to reach out and do in the future?

Indio: Well, you wanna know what’s funny? I’ll be honest with you, my first song called: “Quiero Amar A Otra,” which means “I want to love another,” It came out in a movie that I made, that came out in 2009 called “The Big Shotcallers” and I got a taste of that camera in my face and I fell in love with it. So, I feel like I want to do some acting, for sure. I feel like I definitely want to cross-over and record an English album., for sure. You know I’m very big on dressing and accessories and accessorizing and I love cologne so I wouldn’t mind starting a cologne line. I would not mind starting an accessory line… I just want to be the ultimate entrepreneur. That’s how I look at it, but you know my favorite thing is this: I can’t do any of that unless I let go and let God. So, that’s how I live my life.

AVENTURA Just Dominated The Annual Casandra Awards In The Dominican Republic – Winning SIX Awards, Including The Coveted Soberano As The Top Artist Of the Year

Award winning actor Antonio Banderas has been named a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador !

In his new role, announced  Wednesday, Banderas will act as an advocate for disadvantaged families with the Millennium Development Goals, a set of eight globally agreed targets that seek to halve world poverty by 2015 by combating hunger, disease, illiteracy, environment degradation and discrimination against women.

“Poverty robs us of our potential as a people, preventing us from being all that we can be,” Banderas said in a statement. “This is why it is so important to mobilize all of our efforts to defeat it, especially if today we have the knowledge, the tools and the resources to do it.”

While Banderas has a lot on his plate, he plans to focus heavily on Africa and Latin America.

‘Glee’ star Jayma Mays has just been tapped for “The Smurfs,” Sony’s live-action/animated flick !

Mays joins Hank Azaria, who has been cast as the voice of Gargamel, Neil Patrick Harris and George Lopez in the flick.

It is believed that ‘The Smurfs’ will open in theaters sometime in 2012.

Shakira and Alicia Keys are slated to join several music acts worldwide for a just announced concert taking place in South Africa.

Set to take place in the township of Soweto for the first time, the concert celebrates the FIFA World Cup’s first event in South Africa, also including a performance from the Black Eyed Peas.

“We are thrilled to have a concert of such magnitude and performing talent raise the curtain on the first FIFA World Cup in Africa. It is testament to the universal and unifying power of football and music, and will start the competition off on the right note — of celebration,”FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke said in a statement.

Set to take place June 10, the concert will be held in a 30,000 capacity stadium and broadcast live to millions.

Proceeds from the concert will go to 20 Centres for 2010, FIFA’s official social campaign for the World Cup– aimed at achieving positive change in Africa through football.

African musicians including Benin-born diva Angelique Kidjo, Amadou and Mariam from Mali, South African group the Parlotones and Tuareg desert blues band Tinariwen will also perform.

AS previously reported, Bailon has inked a deal with Def Jam, with plans to release an album later this year.
